elon musk

jalopnik.com/elon-musk-says-hy

Elon Musk's hyperloop project is now literally just a tunnel

His company spent two years and fuck knows how much money developing a tunnel

I can only imagine that the BFR is just a catapult at this point

housing, mh, (-), help request

anyone know of any resources for a soon to be homeless person in the kalamazoo area?

@Alyx I know someone that really likes write.as but that is about all I've heard anyone using a Fediverse adjacent blogging / writing platform.

If you ever want to say something to a trans woman you don’t know just compliment her on a specific choice she made.

It’s the best feeling.

@lapis @Alyx So, I'm the admin but I don't actually do the work myself. I just don't have the extra spoons for that.

Write Freely lets you set up an instance they manage so it doesn't actually take extra work, just money. I like it a lot.

i will admit there's two and exactly 2 categories of otherkin i got beef with

1. people who use their status as an "oh i'm not human so it's not my problem" to not confront and fight back against sexism, racism, etc etc., as well as not taking ownership of their own shit. haven't seen any of these older than about age 13 tho.

2. people who kin me. you can't be me i'm being me! or at least if you're me i have a LOT OF QUESTIONS and MANY COMPLAINTS about WHAT YOU'RE DOING

still haven't heard from anyone about Plume or other ActivityPub blogging stuff

does nobody here use that shit?

death

Murray Gell-Mann, a prominent particle physicist who worked with Richard Feynman, co-discovered the quark, and discovered the quality of strangeness in subatomic particles, has died at age 89.

I have a silly dream of making a paper machine, something I could feed with clean cotton rag and it would pulp it and extrude sheets. that's getting a bit ambitious considering we've never built any machine that wasn't in kit form :=/

I'm a sucker for ooold books about, like, how to do practical stuff like make paint and soap and inks and stuff like that. all the things we've gotten super used to as commercial products

(like...we assume we're _always_ gonna get that stuff at the supermarket or in a convenient yellow Amazon tote or whatever, right? well...maybe not for much longer...)

here's a favorite, "Henley's Recipes"

archive.org/details/henleystwe

kinda want this but then I would have to figure out how I would actually use it

it'd probably just become another lump of useless technology in the basement

Update: Asking for $, urgent

I start my new job on Tuesday. I've gotten about $150 of the $830 I need to cover rent and storage. I don't get my paycheck until at least the 11th, so I'm in kind of a tight bind. Anything helps at this point.

programming a "pendulum" (not the physics kind)

now, Kara's a witch, and my mom Mona's religious (jryy fur yvxrf univat jvyq betvrf jvgu inevbhf tbqf, naljnl, ng yrnfg va ure bja zvaq), but I ain't really into that shit

still, I sometimes feel inclined to help 'em out with their crap. thinking of how I'd make a "pendulum" (it's a divination thing) app that was actually, like...not just a pseudorandom number generator because that's not gonna respond to the spirits, or whatever

ukpol

couldn't she have moved it forward to the 31st though?

"May ends on the 31st" would have been a good headline

At least we've still got "June marks end of May"
