"And that's how we'll improve returns this quarter, which I'm excited for"

"Big mood"

"What"

Anyone who doesn't insist that Austin is a trendy place must be ejected from every cafe there except for chain cafes. Don't ask me why, I don't make the laws.

@ajroach42
You're right, at that. I'm hoping to establish some public community spaces in my city, which is made slightly easier by virtue of it being a smaller city, but I worry if I don't work fast enough, by the time it becomes a real possibility, cost of spaces will become prohibitively expensive.

gross

@TeethTeethTeeth I usually go with "Ah, yes, SUSTENANCE"

Fun fact of the day: Seattle home owners must possess are least one (1) piece of Starbucks branded merchandise, or risk a fine of up to $4.98 per day.

@cabbit@elekk.xyz get the best seats. Or so they can stop sitting on uncomfortable airline waiting area seats and start sitting on uncomfortable aircraft seats.

@ao how dare you! My honorable family of hicks goes back generations!

Transphobia

@evie this just in: women don't possess biceps.

What the tourism and commerce board won't tell you about living in Las Vegas is that every household must own a slot machine.

I just drove past the renowned Placido Domingo.

@garfiald on your deathbed, you'll be so efficient your funeral will be in a latrine.

Just as god intended

@ajroach42 @lordbowlich there are some smaller independent cafes in my city that allow people to just hang out, and don't get salty about people hanging arrive without buying anything, but they're definitely not the norm.

@lordbowlich restaurants have moved in the same direction.

IT's all hard surfaces and industrial design, which means there's nothing to absorb the sound, and you can't hear the person across the table from you over the noise from the people across the building.

We're starved for community, and our few remaining 'public' spaces make it worse.

I never lived on a college campus, but I had lots of friends that did. I spent a large portion of my late teens and early 20s in the Public Spaces that college campuses provide. Every building, it seemed, had a huge ground floor with tables and electricity and wifi, and some of them also had free coffee.

I imagine that this is what it would be like if we made libraries more focused on being community spaces, gave them longer hours, and encouraged socialization or events in the evenings.

Dumb 2000s era politics joke

@troubleMoney see, IPoverTrebuchet is great for large singular data packages but the ping is just too low for good response times. Is like to suggest a bush-era sneakernet. Fill a sneaker with sdcards and throw it at the recipient. The recipient can range the data, put their response in, and return the sneaker.

In this way, the recipient does not need their own debugger for two way communication. The throughput will be lower, though, I'll admit.
