idk with my already massive love/obsession with mecha and assorted giant robots, seeing the latest gundam series, produced by the actual original series creator give broad support of homosexuality is important to me, especially considering how massive the market for this show is internationally, and in japan.

like, the entire line basically implies that the main character being surprised lesbians are legal/normal is a massive outlier because she's from a tiny backwater planet, and that gay relationships are normal to the point of this being a surprising thing in the entire rest of the solar system

i cannot believe that this was the year i got into the gundams, and purely because the new one wafted the vague promise of lesbians in front of me (and, you know, in the same line implied a broad support of gay relationships in said universe without any condemnation)

i think the thing with social media is that when you're new anywhere people will (generally, unless they're assholes) give you a modicum of attention for being new stimulus to their feeds, and unless you manage to court a following after a while you will no longer have that attention. that's what drove me to mastodon in 2017 and that's what drove me back to twitter in 2021, and each time i noticed i got more attention on my work no matter how hard i posted about it.

i just realised, another bonus to being here (not to mastodon as a whole mind you) is that unlike twitter, i can...boost...on desktop. i genuinely seriously cannot retweet on desktop twitter anymore, if i see something i like, i have to get my phone out of my pocket...just amazing
