Generally, but he's an inclusive author. The one I'm reading now has many characters, most of them aren't identified specifically by gender until you're well into their development, and two of them are identified as they/them.

New to Scalzi? If you're a Trekkie, read "Redshirts". It's a send-up that had me rolling on the floor. Right now I'm reading "Kaiju Preservation Society", also very funny. The "Old Man's War" series is what he's probably best known for - 6 books - but I'd hold that off for later. Fuzzy Nation is also good.

President Zelensky held a meeting with the Minister of Enterprise of Denmark, Morten Bedskow.

"Thank you to the government and people of Denmark for supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

We discussed the defense of Ukraine against Russian terror. We count on Denmark's help in finding additional air defense systems for the Mykolaiv region."

Uncharacteristically high quality post:
Happy 10 years to this gorgeous girl. Thank you for spending the best decade of my life with me.

A couple of weeks ago, in another place where I generally feel safe, someone made a scathing comment - not to me, or even about me - about "self-diagnosed autistics". Without a signed certificate, apparently we aren't worthy of the label.
I've been stewing about it ever since, and sometimes doubting myself. This morning I'm peeved. Who the hell is that person to make declarations about other people - including me?

My previous actually autistic posts gave me some excellent answers and furthered my processing a lot. Thanks to everyone involved! πŸ’œ

I self-diagnosed very late. Some big reasons have been a) not having certain stereotypical qualities such as aversion of eye contact, and b) scoring between NT and autistic in many online tests. Interestingly, the realization that I'm autistic wasn't that big identity-wise. I've understood I have certain qualities ages ago. Instead of a change in my identity, it's been a big relief to understand why I'm this and that.

There's still lots to process though. I'm only now coming to grips with how my memory works, for instance.

Ordered two books on autism, Neurotribes and the Devon Price book. Really looking forward to reading those.

When it wasn't shorthand for "I don't like antidiscrimination laws."

I remember reading an article written by someone who had an autistic child and their child loved Guardians of the Galaxy because of the character Drax, who mimicked closely the way this child's autism presented.

@actuallyautistic

@actuallyautistic Seriously, though, I'd be willing to pay money for quality children's shows that feature autistic major characters for my little ones to watch.

I love watching righties lose their shit over stuff like this. I mean, it’s absolutely fucking glorious.

The other Ukraine bill also passed in the House:
The bill to expand Russian sanctions and start confiscating Russian assets for Ukraine!

The US far-right is made up of some of the stupidest people you'll ever encounter -- folks who claim to be proud of a country they've never bothered to study.
To anyone who doesn't get what's funny, this statue was designed and built in France. Jesse slept through third grade.
