Wondering if this is an autism thing, or a me thing:
When they cast an actor in a movie, in a speaking part, but then have someone else sing and the actor just lipsyncs it. It's jarring, it throws me out of the movie and all I can think is "that's not his/her voice, how am I supposed to go along with this?"
We're watching a musical. And an actor is lipsyncing to someone else singing.
New milestone today:
"Hi Samantha
Thanks for ordering with us at Virginmedia"
First utility (it's the internet connection) ordered in new name :-)
Due to the Irish system of utility bills being proof of address etc. this was another milestone - and required a bit of planning to set up utilities appropriately so both my partner and I had proof of address in the needed names.
I usually pop on Ella Fitzgeral or Etta James and sing along. I'm sure you've heard the Etta James version of "At Last".

Torch songs from the 1920s and 1930s are for when I'm stressed and want to relax.

My reaction before this group would have been a panicked "OMG - why is she telling me this? How am I supposed to respond?"
Now I know - it's important to you, and you wanted us to know.
π
Can I just say, I've never been so happy to be info-dumped, because I now know what it is as it's going on.
@Dr_Obvious @Susan60 @independentpen @homelessjun @actuallyautistic I can smell rain coming - it's not petrichor, it's something to do with the change in the air pressure or humidity. I can sometimes smell rain coming about a day before it actually rains.
I only recently found out that this is not just a normal thing, when I mention it, people say "It SMELLS like rain what do you mean?" as if I'm making it up.
Last night my dream was apparently not a good one. I don't remember it, but I woke up with a feeling of general dread / panic.

For me, what I sing - what I feel the urge to sing - can be an insight into what I'm feeling. Same with playing music. It can't be just whatever music, it has to be this particular artist / album / song.
In my car is a thumb drive with the top 100 songs for every year, 1946 to about 2010, plus a bunch more albums from various artists. Everything from classical symphony to bubble-gum pop.

@skykiss Amazing analysis in WaPo today that suggested the Democrats had three options for 2024 1. Run Biden. 2. Run a challenger 3. Run a challenger and reassure America it couldnβt be Harris !!!
Harris is exactly what America needs an a**kicking Jamaican American woman. A raciscst/ misogynist worst nightmare. What has happened to journalism!
Maybe because I work in tech and am used to it, but I find it so much easier in a newer car, with "all the bells and whistles". Adaptive cruise, overhead camera view, parking sensors, automatic braking, lane keeping, and yes, not having to fish my keyfob out of my pocket. My car recognizes me and unlocks when I touch the door handle.
I did try turning on the feature that unlocks the car when I'm near, but that made trips out to the garage startling.
Hey all! This is #Transgender Awareness Week! Some of my dearest friends and family are transgender. Not everyone is made binary male/female, and it would be pretty boring if it was.
Sometimes the original equipment doesn't match the brain. I think that would be hard in a world where people like easy answers. Remember to be kind. π
The Marvels is delightful, you should absolutely go see it.
More seriously: do not let this one bomb, folks. This is a Marvel feature with three female headliners, two of them women of color, directed by a woman of color, written by three women. If this does poorly (or even not spectacularly enough), it will be taken as evidence that women shouldn't feature prominently in blockbusters.
Let's prove them wrong.
(And also everybody is fucking glorious in this, it's just super fun.)
Why Is #America #Afraid of #BlackHistory?
No one should fear a #history that asks a #country to live up to its highest #ideals.

The rigid policing of how people present to the world has gotten more confusing for me as I've gotten older. I'm male, that's how I'm comfortable presenting, but it doesn't threaten me in any way to see another man in heels/skirt/blouse. Now, knowing the courage it takes to do that, it gives me a lift - yay, well done you.
