getting nerdy about music and cataloging

now that I've added the Reality Bites soundtrack to my music collection, I now have over one day's worth in my MP3 collection

This has gotten me to realize soundtrack albums are no different from greatest hits albums, and thus I decided to update my particularly obsessive and neurotic rules of how I catalog my MP3s to match

There may still be edge cases, but hey it works

despite everything I'm still here

the discord loading screen factoid "in the ancient days discord was a browser-only app" is hilarious to me because in 2025 it didn't stop being a browser-only app they just started shipping the browser

I realized I am a sucker for rapid-fire quiz shows like Jeopardy! and The Joker's Wild 1990

That style of game show really gets me to test not just my knowledge, but my memory

and it's fun as hell to play along to

Listening to the Miami Vice soundtrack (the original 80s TV series).

Solid album with some licensed songs (Smuggler's Blues, Better Be Good to Me, In the Air Tonight), songs made exclusively for the show (You Belong to the City, Own the Night, Vice), and Jan Hammer's synth-heavy score.

Good stuff!

I'm thinking about this banger of a post by @mavica_again. I strongly encourage you to read it. We're all trying to make connections in this world. It's amazing what kind of impact a three-word comment ("I like this") or an enthusiastic email can have on someone who's making things for the world to see and use maple.pet/blog/on-social-media

netizen.club/~wildweasel/updat - Golfshrine's second-largest individual item to date - if it really counts as an individual item!

Playing Star Wars: Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 has me thinking about something.

Star Wars is one of those big media franchises (like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Trek, Doctor Who, etc) that I never really got into, despite several attempts to try to.

I like it, but I don't love it with fervor like others do. Everybody will talk a lot about that franchise, while I have no major interest. Thus I feel like an outcast.

I don't know if that's a shared sentiment, or I'm just weird

Retired my dad's old PC that was a ticking time bomb with a new laptop. And the journey to get it working was kinda annoying.

Using Edge to install Firefox, importing all of my dad's old bookmarks and passwords, uninstalling Copilot and other bloatware...

I love modern computers!!!!!!!!

family, mh (-)

today is what would've been my mom's 62nd birthday.

she passed away almost a decade ago, and every time May to June rolls around, I feel incredibly sad.

I miss her so dearly. I hope she would've been proud of how much I've grown as a person.

yeah, my music pool playlist is chaotic

from conventional classic rock standards, to guitar instrumentals, to the theme from Law & Order

basically don't pass me the aux cord

Thanks to @arielmt, Today I learned that Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing was on the Commodore 64

*and* one of the modes is a racing game of sorts

Educational titles got pretty wild back then, didn't they?

reinstalled Quake 3 to check out some mods and maps, and as I kept playing, I came to a realization

I think I'm more an Unreal Tournament kind of gal
