Live tooting: first ever flashing of a smartphone (Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia XA2)
Yasssss! 🎉
Dear followers and new arrivals from #India: once you have settled in, I would love to be educated about current Indian #comics that you love.
Not necessarily of the Amar Chitra Katha kind (where the gods are fair-skinned and the darker demons sport Muslim-style beards), but unique voices like A Gardener in the Wasteland, political work like Kashmir Pending, or queer fiction like Kari, be it print or webcomic.
Thank you!
This weekend, the hunting season for ptarmigans has begun in #Iceland.
There is an unfortunate asynchronicity between the ptarmigan feathers (which are already moulting from camouflage brown to white alpine realness) and Iceland’s actual weather changes – snow is usually a couple of more weeks away.
I had an encounter with a particularly fierce and gutsy ptarmigan mom this summer, so here’s hoping she's keeping all her fluffballs safe during these dangerous weeks ahead 🌨️🤞
#TodayILearned: Closed source is the new carbon!
At least when it comes to #IoT:
German startup Locumi Labs files for bankruptcy, shutting down its servers and turning all of its “Nello one” smart locks into heaps of e-waste.
So... what's our closed source phase-out plan again...?
Eventually I received an official certificate with my name on it, which felt like finding the Last Golden Ticket to the chocolate factory: a palpable reservation confirmation for my trip to the moon!
Down at the bottom, in small print, it was signed by the travel agency: #ThomasCook.
So… as much as I feel for the people stuck in their holiday resorts right now – they have no idea what it feels like to be stuck on Earth. For good. 🚀 🌕
2/2
As a kid the #moon was very dear to me.
One day I discovered this article in a magazine, detailing plans about setting up a touristic infrastructure up there, and how you could already be waitlisted for the first civilian flight in 2028.
There were numerous adultist obstacles to overcome, but I moved heaven and hell to get on that list. I knew it would be incredibly expensive, but I also knew that I would become that famous comic artist and that I still had decades to figure that out.

Pride.com’s priceless advice on how gay guys get a second date:
Find “silly“ and “taboo“ common interests like “still reading comics as adults“.
Nothin’ like a weird-ass kink to bond with one another, right? 🙄
In light of U.S. Vice president Mike Pence’s recent visit to #Iceland to re-establish a military presence there, let me share with you the rusted remains of the WWII naval base in the Hvalfjörður fjord, destroyed by #Elves in 1944 for basically interdimensional imperialism and trespassing.

ukpol meets The Incredible Hulk
Yesterday, unelected PM Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson likened Britain to the Hulk, bound in EU shackles.
“Hulk always escaped, no matter how tightly bound in he seemed to be - and that is the case for this country. The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets”
(Further reading:
“Planet Hulk”, where Hulk gets launched into space because he is deemed too dangerous to stay on Earth at all, and its followup storyline, “World War Hulk”.)
Also #Brazil:
Rio's fascist mayor Crivella attempts to censor a gay kiss in Marvel's Avengers, which gloriously backfires.

Computer brands used in comics
In my comics I try to be mindful about what kind of computer brand/OS/app I draw on the pages.
The default of too many colleagues is to depict a computer by drawing an apple on a square - or a pear if they want to appear funny/critical.
Well it's not critical, it's still an ad, and an unpaid one at that.
Don't get me wrong, there might be stories where it's fitting for the character to use a Mac, but mostly it's just a mindlessly repeated code. 🐑 🐑 🐑
Hæ there!
If this toot is still pinned, I am AFK on my #Iceland mission – chasing Elves and Walking Children in Nature.
It also means that I’m not able to see DMs or review follower requests atm.
Wish me luck and have a great summer!✨
If they think we’re merely raising humble tax payers here, they’re in for a reeeal treat. 🤫
State of infosec awareness in the comics community
Fellow comic artist looking at my calling card: “Ah, you’re listing all Hex color codes you’ve used – that’s so meta, I love it!”
Me: “Thanks, um, plus, it’s my fingerprint.”
For years I saw this car in my neighborhood, assuming its owner simply attached some pre-printed ornamental foil.
Then one day recently, I saw this young lady squatting in front of it, edding marker in hand, carefully adding line for line.
And I realized: the whole sprawling floral madness of sea-horses, algae and jellyfish is completely handmade!
Kudos, unknown neighbor – this is what determination looks like.
On the bright side, it's June now and that means years of yearning and longing are over: in a few weeks I will be able to see #Iceland again!
I have some research to do there for my comics project, especially on the eastern coast (Seyðisfjörður, Borgarfjörður Eystri). *And* some serious catching up with my favourite place on Earth.
It's been too long and I'm getting excited!
