“My reputation for the rest of my life is destroyed!” Nah bro, your reputation has been synced with who you are. If that’s negatively affecting you, perhaps some self-reflection is in order, painful as that might be. washingtonpost.com/media/2023/

🎨📰 Barbara Brandon-Croft was the first Black woman to have a syndicated comic strip for international audiences.

More than 30 years after her comics went mainstream, they are still as relevant and funny as they were in the ’90s. Dorothy Woodend writes.

Hey #indigenousmastodon - I'm looking for an Indigenous comic artist who can do a really rad punk art style. Approx 8 pages. Paid project, great publisher, reasonable deadline.

If that's you, let me see your samples at indiginerds.anthology (at) gmail

Please boost!

So happy for you, – never give up on your dreams! 🌠

@HerraBRE I second that, and always try to say "that was a nasty thing you did" instead of "you're nasty".
I think it's possible to give the kids a baseline of "you're great" and still put an emphasis on accountability - not least by sincerely saying sorry myself now and then.

I made a browser extension that will replace all references to “Valentine’s Day” with “Horny Werewolf Day” in the web sites you visit. It’s fun and dumb and I like it a lot!

racism in illustrations

There's a politics of lines in and illustration.

Take this one from "Queer – A Graphic History", which accompanies a text on racial stereotypes.

It troubles me that the least amount of lines is used on the central white guy. He is drawn so much more abstract than anyone else!

Willingly or not, that presents him as the default human being, upon which you have to add a bunch of extra lines to create cliché Black or Asian eyes, lips or hair.

Line counts matter!

Emailed John P. to update the mailing address on my King Cat subscription.

He wrote me back to say that I just may be the longest current subscriber he's got — I signed up in 1994 with issue #44!

1994 was my first year in college. Looking back through those comics stirs up a lot of memories.

#kingcat is one of my all-time favorites — you should subscribe! John also runs a distribution service called Spit And A Half where you can buy more fun mini-comics:

@olivia No no I'm just a happy daily user  @danirabbit is running elementary and has founded it together with @cassidyjames

Got lots of setting up to do now with the release of 7.

The whole family uses it, including our kids - it's so great to have a focused, polished Linux distro for them to do their homework, watch their streams and invite us parents to their Stardew Valley farm every now and then.

Thanks @danirabbit and everyone involved!

@danirabbit Very hyped! No idea about SEO, but I have 2 Thinkpads here biting their nails, nervously waiting for the lucky 7! 🎰

@tangocharlie Very much enjoyed the post. I work very similarly on my longterm comic project, but have at times felt unprofessional for not having frozen the whole story in carbonite, as so many of my colleagues did. I have since made peace with my approach, but boy, it sure is reassuring to find out there are others!

RT @kcgreenn@twitter.com

We passed it a couple days ago, but it has been 10 years since "On Fire", the strip I did that became the meme "this is fine". gunshowcomic.com/648
