But most modern languages also have better package managers, allowing 3rd party libraries to be really easily used.

I guess my perspective is I'm comparing golang to ruby, haskell, elixir, etc; rather than comparing to C

golang seems like a trap to me - it attracts C programmers by being "C but slightly easier" but doesn't actually.... make anything easier or better in any meaningful way
