@Felthry @Rosemary I'd prefer to stay in person for now - I had some bad experiences with GMing online, and even playing in a game online can make me super anxious to the point I end up in tears.

But hopefully I'll get over that soon...

Affectionate

@BatElite I guess I'm a bit sad... I'm sorry sweetie, I wish I could be happier for you...

My goal for this coming month: start a regular tabletop story-telling group again.

It's been almost a year since I last got to run anything, and I haven't played in anything for 6 months

@DialMforMara I'm sorry you didn't get the job!

I hope you find something good soon...

TableTop RolePlaying Games, salty

@wxcafe@social.wxcafe.net I own most of Avery Alder's games, but I've never had a chance to try them - I need to get a regular RPG group going again...

@Wayril@octodon.social That's cool!

But most of those systems are very similar to D&D – if you want to broaden your palate, I'd recommend trying to run something very different (like Fiasco or Apocalypse World).

It sounds like you'd run the kind of D&D games that I'd enjoy, though!

@wxcafe@social.wxcafe.net that sounds really awesome - I'm a big fan of Apocalypse World, and some of the half-finished games that Baker has made (and his thoughts on Ars Magica reflect a more sympathetic version of my thoughts), so I really have to give it a try!

@lizardsquid fully agree. D&D is a good toolkit for starting out with GMing and tabletop roleplaying, but not the best. It's a very robust framework but it makes it very hard to fudge things. If you're an experienced GM and want to run anything but high fantasy dungeon crawls and combat heavy adventures, then you're constantly going ot be fighting D&D's systems; all of them, no matter the edition. it's doable but it's a LOT of work and there's better systems.
