re: programming languages, java

@00dani yes, exactly!

I have no issue with kotlin!

programming languages, java

The only real issue I have with Java is that it's strongly typed, but still has null.

If it had been designed without null (i.e. with just the current Optional<T> type, or with something like C#'s Nullable stuff) from the very beginning, I don't think I would have any problems with it.

social ~

@Felthry I think of you as a friend, albeit one I haven't talked to much recently

windows, whinge

@madewokherd thankyou for letting me know about Services, though, I didn't know I could use that to disable things

windows, whinge

@madewokherd The adobe one is, the google one isn't (but related google things are)

windows, whinge

@madewokherd I've disabled everything in the "startup apps" section, and there's still stuff that launches.

Adobe Acrobat Updater is always, Google Crash Reporter is always there, and several others.

windows, whinge

I hate how many programs on windows just install their own services that run at launch, and you can't turn them off.

videogame: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

I'm just starting out with PoE2, and I'm up to the hardest part of playing a computer RPG: deciding which class to play when you don't know how the game works.

racism, colonialism, australia

I want to put *something* in my bio, but I don't want to claim to be on lands that I'm not on.

racism, colonialism, australia

I know that D'harawal seasons cover this region (I'm learning to use their seasons, since they match much better than the European seasons), but once again they're south of here

A likely option is the Eora people, but the best source I have for that says that their lands were bounded at the Northern edge by the Kuringai people, which means either 1) I'm in Kuringai territory or 2) since the Kuringai people technically don't exist, this source isn't trustworthy.

I think it would be a good idea to put something like "living on unceded <indigenous people's> land" into my bio.

The issue: I don't know which people were here.

Some sources say Kuringai, except the name "Kuringai" was basically just made up by some white guy, and it isn't a real collection of people.

Some sources say Darug, but then other sources indicate they lived a fair way South or West of here.

I can't remember if I ever posted these here but a while ago I spent literally 6 months handstitching an 8-foot-long giant squid plushie and it's the best fucking thing I've ever done. Their name is Vandermeer and they like cuddles

@chr @roxy@snouts.online I also like to use the web interface - it's a bit slower than what I'd really like, but you also get to keep your instance's themes and such.

More arts from @scoots! Again, they do commissions and you should see their pinned toots for more info!

Say hello to @venatus's character, Zenosha, a kobold Circle of Spores druid!
