"I wonder how that's pronounced, I'll go look up scottish gaelic orthography."
I had forgotten, however, that sounds in gaelic languages go under really complicated processes, and letters can represent "broad" and "slender" sounds, which might also be different before front vowels than they are before back vowels. So disentangling this will take awhile...
my instance will be going offline for maintenance soon, and I'm not going to open one of my others to replace it, because I'll use this time to do something else.
