hmm i forgot i can't post anything i don't want liked on mastodon because humans take "i like that you're feeling bad" to mean support somehow

@JProl i don't understand how humans interact in this platform and the non sequiturs really upset my circuits.

can someone please explain to me the utility of favouriting a post on mastodon in which the poster has asked a question

i need to migrate an entire website's template from bootstrap 2 class names to bootstrap 5 class names. is there a tool to help with that. is there something i can enable in my developer console to see all instances of a DOM object being given a class that has no matching CSS

hello mavica! i used to know you on discord for a while and then we were twitter mutuals. i hope you're doing well and still making cool stuff — hello i have no idea who you are. thanks retrospring.net/@maple_syrup/a

starting to see people use "png" to implicitly mean "with transparent background" just like we use "gif" to implicitly mean "with animation"

You've heard of putting echo "Segmentation fault" in someone's .profile

Now get ready for replacing their xyzCalibration_cube.stl with thingiverse.com/thing:6475434/

reminder that if you played bluesuburbia, and have the time, please leave a review to balance out the harassing ones (about my SA).
there were a bunch of people calling to review bomb me.

this is my newest work in early access as it gets build, it’s atmospheric horror walking sim.

i'm overqualified for most jobs on linkedin yet they can't bring me in because mr uk government says i can't generate value for their economy without paying them thousands of pounds to get a little piece of paper ^^; maple.pet/tech give me money

i wish i had disposable income to just throw at these problems but sadly i've been unemployed for 2 years now and stuck in immigration limbo which means i literally cannot look for work anywhere

i'm just really upset at myself because i tried so carefully to open the keyboard membrane latch and the whole thing came out in one fell swoop and like 3 lines had the carbon pad at the end completely sheared off. in trying to fix it i managed to make it worse. keyboard membranes suck! the whole thing is still good but just the one little connector end is ruined and you gotta bin the whole thing

while fixing a new floppy drive and the LED board for my amiga 600 i managed to destroy the keyboard membrane i bought less than 10 years ago and had to spend 35 pounds to get a new one 🙏 bless, who needs groceries anyway

more train of thought:
…there’s that aspect of it too with how impermanent modern software is built to be (subscription only, cloud based, you never really own it…) that saving this old stuff is the only sense of control you have over the history of tools you used or how you digitally exist.

Show thread

a train if thought reoccurring to me is that collecting old hardware, software, or games, has the same appeal as collecting old books. you feel like you are saving something meaningful. getting rid of it just feels wrong.
i have all this very old microsoft software. it’s completely useless but i can’t bring myself to get rid of it. even tho it’s been preserved elsewhere. it almost feels like throwing away a book.

i don't think i could ever own an iphone, even if one day i ever earn enough to afford one. it just stands against everything i strive for in computers. i don't understand people who own iphones exclusively much less people who develop iphone-only applications. i wish mastodon had twitter's ground breaking feature of disabling replies because i can already hear the fanboys coming
