July is #DisabilityPrideMonth
Wait, disability ... pride? Why would someone be proud to be disabled?
One of the most important aspects of disability pride for me is to counter the shame. The shame of “being different,” the shame of “needing help,” the shame of “being a burden,” the shame from the humiliation and abuse I have experienced.
Disability pride gives me the chance to counter the shame by saying, “I am disabled, and I am proud to exist and be who I am.”

Hey all y'all need to stop using "guys" in mixed company.
- My trans girlfriend is not a guy.
- My cis girlfriend is not a guy.
- I'm not a guy (or a girl, but that's not relevant here).
Misgendering is misgendering—even if "everyone's doing it".
Patriarchy shouldn't be the default.
one adult: "I'd like one custom pornography, please, and consent to compensation for your efforts."
an adult artist: "I consent to this exchange. That'll be a non-zero amount of money please."
payment processors, breaching the fucking wall with explosives: "I don't consent, perverts! Hands in the air! Do it! Do it now!"
Okay, it's borked.
Seems that something plastic got in the main drum area and melted when rubbing against the rubber, creating the smoke and dumping a lot of semi-molten rubber into the pump, causing that to fail too :(
Any Discworld fans here? I suddenly had an image of Death coming to a newly transitioned trans person on Discworld just to collect their deadname.
BE AT EASE. IT IS NOT YET YOUR TIME. I'M ONLY HERE FOR THE NAME.
Post-vaginoplasty question regarding urination
I have a question for trans women who have done a vaginoplasty. I had the catheter for urinating removed yesterday and since then I have a constant feeling of needing to pee. I am using the toilet every 90/120 minutes and the quantity seems normal to me, and I know that irregular urination is to be expected after the surgery, but this feels like too much. Given the changes to the urethra, is this a matter of "re-training" my urinary system? Should I try to avoid going so often so that my bladder gets used to a proper, less disruptive schedule, or does this go away with time?
Thank you for the answers, boosts are appreciated!
GrapheneOS: Where Licenses Matter More Than People
GrapheneOS could have shipped real accessibility support. They had a screen reader. They had a libre speech engine — one they requested a feature from. They got that feature.
And then they said no.
Because the license was GPLv3.
They’ll ship sandboxed Google Play Services.
They’ll let you install GPLv3 software from their app store.
But a working screen reader for blind users?
Blocked. On principle.
This isn’t a technical limitation.
This is not a matter of priorities.
This is cruelty by ideology — and they’re proud of it.
So here it is. My full public dissection of the excuses, the hypocrisy, and the sheer contempt they’ve shown to the people who need privacy and security most: the disabled.
They chose licensing purity over basic humanity.
I chose to write this.

At the weekend, a group of trans women protested topless at the Scottish Parliament about the recent Supreme Court ruling that the Equality Act defines women as "biological women". The police couldn't arrest them, because to arrest them for showing their breasts would be to define them as women (it's not illegal for men to be topless). And, of course, the right-wing press that reported on it censored their breasts, thereby making their point for them.
that "Google made their search results worse on purpose to get more ad impressions" article that's going around is based on an internal email chain from a legal filing, in which an employee mentions this potential approach for increasing engagement metrics... as an example of a bad approach and not something they'd be comfortable doing.
based on my reading, there's nothing in here that says they actually did it. I can't see anything in there that supports that claim.
Today the FA has proven what most of us already knew: Football is an institutionally bigoted, tribalistic pastime and does nothing but foster hate & division.
There is a concept in psychology of "othering" - an "us and them" mentality that promotes and encourages discrimination. One of the first examples given of it in studies? Football.
Protest the FA's decision to ban trans players. If you don't you're as much a shitbag as they are. No discussion.
