the idea that gun control will prevent a popular uprising in the USA is a fantasy.

Historically, most uprisings have been started by people taking guns from military stockpiles, not from their own homes

In addition to this, most gun owners in the United States are not socialists or anarchists, many of them are reactionary or worse.

and to those who say its hypocritical to get gun control while the military still has guns, limiting the total amount of murder machines is still an admirable goal and not worth standing against in the name of whataboutism

Each person gets one week to do or add whatever: graphics, music, code (although you're discouraged from rewriting all the code others have written even if it's dumb) and then you send it off to the next person without comment.

You could all keep your own changelogs that can be added to one another afterwards to see who did what.

My continuing adventure

On most days my gender is an anime weapon.

For people new to #mastadon, some #tips on mastadon compared to twitter:
1. Toot = tweet
2. boost = retweet
3. favorite = like
4. No general #search, use hashtags!
5. local timeline == only switter
6. federated timeline == can contain stuff from other mastadon servers

A recent interviewer asked about my experience with Windows. I use Windows for work and Linux at home.

And I caught myself a millimeter away from saying "Windows in the streets, Linux in the sheets."

I didn't. But they all knew that's what I meant.

The only real purposes of a gender field are marketing data and automated pronoun systems. The former is unnecessary and the latter is better served by not hiding it behind a gender label and just letting people pick a set of pronouns.

I've realised that some non-English-English speakers may be confused by the British reaction to Mark Zuckerberg sending other people in his place after his invitation to speak to the UK Parliament

While "you are invited to Parliament to speak on this subject" may be interpreted as "we'd like you come and talk if it's not too much bother" to some foreign ears, the phrase actually means "COME HERE RIGHT THIS SECOND YOU LITTLE SHIT AND EXPLAIN YOURSELF"
