@SirTapTap to sloppily summarize, it means that you also have to go out of your way to discover content outside your "neighboring" instances (anyone following an account on another instance makes them "neighbors" by default, at the sysop's discretion). if you need something noticed, outreach is difficult; it's very much a "walled garden" setting. but yes, federation by design makes it much easier to shut out bigots
either way, I'm pissed off *professionally* about how they handled this. these clowns thought front-end work was unimportant; the homepage was an unstyled plain text header with a navbar and a simple pop-up login form that I simplified from a uselessly bloated 90kb to 11kb *that had content and styling.*
will make a longer, proper post on this sometime soon, but: do not buy from the closed species Pacapillars or its two main administrators, deviantArt users Nokkelborth and WolfyCade/StarburstSorbet. they cucked me out of a year's worth of pay for my front-end work on their website and refuse to pay me a dime.
thankfully, they cannot scamper off with my work, since I never gave anyone any code before pay, but working with them was a shitshow of a circus act.

Iβm a front-end web developer, birdkeeper, rainforest bastard, and a former student of vertebrate paleontology (cretaceous theropod specialty) just trying to get along in this cruel world of furry-wigged titty sparkledogs.
I am forgetful and crass; I wouldn't recommend following if you NEED uncommon CW content tagged. otherwise feel free to send a request or ask that I tag for something
