@MightyPork@dev.glitch.social yeah that's what i have going on right now but i just want áéíóú and anything else to fall back to 's 'm 't instead of ś ḿ and literally nothing for '+t

@MightyPork@dev.glitch.social oh god having apostrophe be typed whenever i press shift sounds horrible

using a compose key is extremely irritating for me because i'll never remember to do that because that is not how i've typed for 20 years

what i want: brazilian portuguese typing but on US keyboard, basically

just like computers in the 90s did it

this laptop has an US layout but i want to be able to type in portuguese too

US-international doesn't cut it

even the ABNT2 layout i just tried does ś and ḿ and ignores '+t, except using a wrong keyboard layout

so like, i don't know what else to do

@MightyPork@dev.glitch.social i guess? portuguese uses áéíóú but not śḿ and i would like it to do 's 'm instead in those cases

like any computer in the 90s here did until keyboards with native ç key existed

@kellerfuchs i honestly have no idea what xcompose is and i don't think i=ḿ in the right headspace to learn it todaysorry

@InspectorCaracal i just found "alternative international" but it works exactly the same way

áéíóú
śḿ and '+t doesn't put anything unless i do '+space+t

windows back in the 90s used to be able to use an US keyboard exactly the way i want it to be so idk why linux in the 2017 dropped that and it irritates me a lot

abnt2 does á é without doing ś ḿ exactly the way i want it to but abnt2 is a different layout than us and this keyboard is us so i won't be able to type some punctuation

@InspectorCaracal no it does

apparently dropbox and nautilus-dropbox are incompatible as of right now under xubuntu 16.04.3

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
dropbox : Breaks: nautilus-dropbox

lmfao ok then

@kellerfuchs i'm using something ubuntu calls "US (International with dead keys)"

there isn't an international without dead keys

i don't know which are the dead keys

i also don't want to switch over between layouts either, i want just the one
