for some reason if i compile the tex in the thinkpad the bibliography page is missing entirely (no thrown errors) but if i compile it on my i5 it's there and i don't know how differently set up texlive is on either machine???

@maunzikation sometimes i get the feeling most if not all trans vocalists subscribe to the bikini kill school of music

you'd think using latex would be easier in linux than in windows

@InspectorCaracal emojis don't refederate unless the admin of the remote instances delete them on their side, something i learnt the hard way

glitch.social has a polaroid version of :maple: to this day

swiping my right thumb across the fingerprint reader is way cooler than typing a password to install apt packages

@InspectorCaracal in re: the dropbox thing, there was an old guide that showed how to get dropbox bindings working with thunar using nautilus-dropbox (xubuntu uses thunar instead of nautilus) but apparently all that has changed now

apparently in linux any keyboard layout that does automatic accent composition includes letters that that language does not use

portuguese layout makes you type ś and ḿ too

@SpeedyPandora still types ś and aaa the punctuation is æÆÞþö all wrong sorry

@InspectorCaracal (meaning ; is ç and so i'm missing a few punctuation keys and the rest is all jumbled)

@InspectorCaracal OH wait when i changed my keyboard type from generic 105-key to IBM thinkpad something or other (not the thinkpad model i have, i know that) it actually mapped to qwerty right but it just

acted as abnt2

@InspectorCaracal i tried that and it put punctuation in qwer and everytihng else was random places and i almost couldn't type "keyboard" to open the setting window to fix it

this just never came up for me because my other computers either have abnt2 keyboards or the ones with US keyboards use an OS that doesn't have ś or ḿ like windows

@InspectorCaracal i just think it's weird how this used to be standard practice in the 90s and now i have to makesomething by hand for it instead of just picking it from a drop down
