There's a TV show in this concept I'm sure, meetings that must have happened

skits throughout time about all the really weird meetings that must have occurred

like the one about the orion project, "we want to ride nuclear explosions into space", "you mean like, a nuclear reactor creating thrust in a controlled way or something right?", "nope, blow up a nuke behind us and ride the shockwave", "... YOU WANT TO DO WHAT?"

Show thread

Meetings I wish I'd been in: The one where Abraham Lincoln received the offer of a whole bunch of elephants from the King of Siam to help in the north american civil war

"Next on the agenda, the King of Siam is offering to send us elephants"
Everyone in the meeting: "what?"

@mavica @revenant well, since a court held just to declare someone guilty is known as a kangaroo court that's the furry side of the market open

@evie I mean, I know I'm not supposed to make it with reactor coolant but the kettle's all the way over there

@mavica in visual style that is, you have your map, you're on the map, and you move based on where the enemies are

yeah, might not be your thing but if you're bored at a terminal at any point maybe give it a go, it's surprisingly good

@mavica it's more rogue than infocom is what I'm trying to get at, except there's fewer characters you have to remember

@mavica it's not actually that bad as text based games go, it gives you a command prompt that you tell it certain things to do and it gives you little maps and stuff in ascii

@mavica in the bsdgames package on most linuxen there's a game called trek

it's a star trek strategy game in the terminal

you're in the enterprise hunting around for nasty klingons to blow up

:thaenkin: should I tell @mavica about the star trek game that's in bsdgames or would that just utterly kill byte's productivity...

@mavica wow, that's a lot of them

is pixelfed a flickr replacement? I remember it being a some-image-thing replacement but I can't remember if it's a flickr or instagramy thing replacement

@mavica "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

Don’t forget to hug your cuttlefish, they’re going through some shit right now

@pup_hime @Nine I'll contend that there's a point where a watch becomes more of an artistic sculptural piece and is worth that much money, in some cases worth far more

but a $10k steel sports rolex is not at that point
