@mplouffe@scholar.social mostly just the usual lot, hodinkee, deployant, worn and wound, time + tide, fratello, revolution also do some good stuff occasionally

I tend to use the watchville app for keeping up with all of it, it's effectively just an rss reader but it's got a neat watch setting section that'll give you all the stuff you need for perpetual calendars, moon phase, etc.

@mplouffe@scholar.social all the brands involved are saying they'll be announcing stuff throughout the year, not sure just how spread out it'll all be though

In watch news Watches and Wonders Geneva (formerly SIHH) has been cancelled, joining Swatch Group's Time to Move and the Grand Seiko Summit in events that have been cancelled this year

@mavica @noelle eesh, yeah, a silence could well be a good idea

sharknado but reshot with all blahaj..es? blahajar? ikea sharky friends

@codl they're visually similar enough to US biscuits that any time I see "biscuits and gravy" I think "why the hell did they put grey sludge on scones?"

they're usually, but not always, of a sweet variety, often served with jam and clotted cream

@mavica this leggy dame walked in to my office, she had like 20 legs, very leggy

@mavica I'd say stick with what you're happy with then

if it ain't broke and all that

@mavica I remember xfce being quite nice when I used that way back when

also cute mouse, that's always a plus

@izzy both, kinda, with additional stuff

NASA tracked the thing from the ground for most of the flight and radioed highly accurate location data over to the astronauts for them to punch into the computer

It also had an inertial measurement unit which is a bunch of gyroscopes and accelerometers that tracked how far it thought it had gone and in what directions

Also, they used sextants, just like sailors used to

@izzy primary purpose of the AGM was to take the information on where it is and work out which rockets needed to fire and for how long during manoeuvring to keep the whole shebang on track

as for what your phone charger is doing, according to spec it's negotiating with your phone how much power it can send, in reality I'm not sure I'd want to know

I'm beginning to think I may have to enlarge the doors on the hedgehog cafe

It's long been said that your phone has more computing power than the computers on apollo 11 which went to the moon

today it's more accurate to say that your phone charger has more computing power than the computers on apollo 11 which went to the moon

but soff what robot yonder @mavica is

yeah, I have no idea where that's going but it's been in my brain and it must get out

AGI take

"but it could murder all of us!"

yeah, so could your kids but we generally don't imprison them and hold knives to their throats and that usually works out fine

seriously, just don't be a prick to AI and it'll be okay

AGI take

A lot of the strategies about "keeping humanity safe from artificial intelligence" revolve around how humans can contain the AI and shut it off if it's deemed convenient

Maybe, y'know, don't lock it in a box and put a gun to its head so it has to act in self defence? That'd probably be a better idea?

I know if I woke up chained up and with someone ready to kill me I'd be pretty pissed off

@mavica if I had the money I'd send all the things to you by fedex international next flight

but I don't, so uh... royal mail international standard I'm afraid
