looking at the local fertility clinic's pricing for uninsured treatment and I'm not impressed

i'm just glad i've been able to accept that gender is a fuck

My biggest childhood regret is not walking up to the giant robot wheel that came to elementary school to talk about bus safety and thanking him for his service

hrt, mention of blood (not graphic)

This could start as early as this week omfg

hrt, mention of blood (not graphic)

They took a lot of blood out of my body (some of it for not gender-related reasons tbf)!!! But they're measuring my testosterone and once those results come back they're going to calculate my starting dosages of estradiol and T blocker!!!!!!!! This shit is getting real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My doctors appt is in like an hour and I'm so fucking anxious

hrt isn't even the reason I have this appointment scheduled, I'm just going to ask about it there

hrt

And now that it's sinking in... I'm kind of terrified. My heart's pounding. But... I think it's in a good way? It's like I'm just really anxious about a big life change, like I'm about to get married or have a baby or something.

And I guess on that note, I have a doctor appointment today and I'm going to ask about starting hormones!!! (And also about a way to get my numerous questions answered about it)

hrt, coming out, request for advice

As an addendum, I also talked a bit with my sister and decided it would be better to start hormones and ensure that I 100% will be doing this. It'd probably not go super smooth if I said my piece and then realized that this is actually not for me.

@Chel @Scarly @Breakfast @porsupah

thanks for all your insight <3 i will probably take hormones for a month or two - hopefully well before any outward physical changes - so that I can tell a little white lie that I'm just about to start HRT when I finally break it down for everyone (':

To say nothing of the fact that if it does end up feeling right I'll likely be more confident to begin with.

idk i just don't want to cause needless stress or drama, for myself or others

hrt, coming out, request for advice

The main problem is that if I come out to people who won't necessarily immediately support me, I want to be absolutely certain I want to move forward with this. I'm starting to think having a couple months of HRT might be necessary for me to be confident that I am dead set on this.

For anyone who is out and/or on HRT: would you recommend starting HRT before or after coming out (to family specifically)? I thought I'd just rip the bandaid off and tell my family before I officially start hormones but I find myself wondering if that's really the best idea...
