@itsgoingdown@newsbots.eu _Or_ if you can‘t donate but have an hour to spare, you can write her a letter.

Afaik she‘s not allowed to have books, so let's send her some input and remind her she's not alone in this.

I recently sent her some lines – doesn't have to be anything for posteriority, every note of support helps.

Postcards aren't allowed, the letters have to be handwritten on white paper.

Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people.

Join me on Friday when my friend and colleague Elke will finally release her new comic “Love Migration”.

Short, autobiographical episodes follow Elke falling in love with Russian queer activist Masha in St. Petersburg and their subsequent decision to live together in Berlin.

Elke will be presenting at this year’s International Womens’ Day celebrations of Quarteera, a Berlin-based Russian-speaking LGBTQ* organization. So also expect Russian queerfeminist standup comedy, open mike and much more!

i wish other countries would steal the bodies of prominent Brits and Americans to put on display in their museums.

not political leaders, but bodies of people we actually care about. like if Egypt just swiped the bodies of Stan Lee and David Bowie to put on display like "we just want to raise awareness and respect for their beautiful culture! $10 admission!"

Girl representation in superhero comics

So today in my kids workshop, this 14-year old superhero geek girl brought all her favourites:

No Spidey, no Batman, no Supes.

But Ms. Marvel, Spider Gwen, Batgirl, Black Canary, Lady Thor, even Squirrel Girl – all the good stuff, basically, and all of them girl heroes brimming with agency. And all of it available in German - the markets are a-changin‘, boys.

Thank you, geek girl. Made my day.

@maple Thanks for clarifying!
(And for keeping on the lights in this corner of the Fediverse!)

weird timeline glitch

OK Fediverse, stop confusing me!
This is clearly @maj s bio text with an... avatar of The Guardian?!
Maybe a bot...?

Experimenting with coloring a panel.

Inspired by @maj s travels I was going for northern lights realness, but didn‘t quite get there.
Bit dark, too.

Best conference poster *ever*.

Hello, campers!

After much discussion, I think the hashtag I'm going to recommend for talking about comics stuff, whether it's WIPs, scripts, story ideas, thumbnails, panel compositions, dialogue balloons, pacing, etc. is going to be:

#MakingComics

Use that hashtag whenever you talk about making your #comics to connect with a wider community of comic and narrative art creators in the :fediverse: Fediverse.

Keep being awesome, campers! ⛺

Shameless comics workshop plug/brag

So in two weeks time there‘ll be another round of my workshop in .
It‘s unique in that it‘s not a basic course but an advanced project mentoring for everything you ever wanted to start/finish.
I already have enough attendees, but hey, we‘ll have comics phenomenon Ulli Lust talking about her creative process, we‘ll be printing an anthology and presenting it at this year‘s festival.
DM me for details if you're interested.

feel like there's a lot of folks here who'd be interested in a new graphic novel about Helen Keremos, the first lesbian pulp fiction detective.

Margaret Atwood convinced the author, Eve Zaremba (88), to revive the character. I am very very intrigued.
