Good morning!

Snakes

@SilviaFox@sleeping.town They're happy to hear! At least this one is.

(Also very much yes. :D)

Today I wrote a program that takes a tsalagi transcription and puts it in the actual writing system

(there's some weird edge cases, but wikipedia notes that any software that tries to do this will have this issue)

why isn't there a way to block or hide accounts on youtube?

In general, acquaintance is symmetric. That is, if you know someone, they also know you. The exceptions have historically been quite rare. On social media, though, by default acquaintance is not symmetric. Depending on what they post, you can know someone quite well without them even knowing you exist, or vice versa. I think this is where a lot of the problems come from.

What do sea creatures use for public transport?

The nautibus.

Behind the scenes of one of my favourite episodes of New Doctor Who

The episode is midnight, which involves an alien who takes over someone's body and starts repeating back everyone's lines.

(If you haven't seen it, the behind the scenes won't make much sense)

it's really impressive how these actors dealt with the complexities of filming it

Classic Doctor Who :: [Season 4]

The next story: The Evil of the Daleks.

This story was supposed to be the last Dalek story ever – Terry Nation wanted to pitch a Dalek spinoff show to American TV statiosn, so this was written to get rid of them.

The daleks would return, of course, but not for 5 years. (prior to this point, there had been at least 1 dalek story every year).

editor things, petty style complaints

(Side note: I don't care what you write in messages to friends, this is for like.... things you are actually publishing.)

editor things, petty style complaints

It frustrates me when I see people doing something that requires MORE effort, but looks worse.

If you want to refer to a range of dates, you write it like 1927–1933, using an en dash with no spaces around it.

But yesterday I saw someone write it as 1927 — 1933. It looks wrong. It uses an em dash (which is too long), and there are spaces on either side. This is harder to read, because the years are closer to the words around them than to the other year.

Classic Doctor Who :: [Season 4]

choosing a rating for The Faceless Ones is so difficult...

I really really want to give it a "Highly Recommended" rating, but it's partially a reconstruction. It's still incredibly tense and incredibly creepy, and really really really good, but it still.... isn't as good as it would have been.

Some of the missing stories I don't mind being missing - The Myth Makers, for example, is not very good.

But The Faceless Ones is such a good story and so so creepy...

tsalagi [ ᏣᎳᎩ ] /t͡sa.la.gi/ (Cherokee)

(transcribing tsaligi into ipa is a bit weird, because whether or not a particular consonant is voiced depends on the dialect - luckily, the official transcription is pretty close to the ipa)

“hmm” i muse as i turn over the ancient relic in my hand “it looks photoshopped”

Colour corrections, cause I was drawing with the iOS equivalent to f.lux on and it made my colours weird.
