i am Officially once again developing for the Sega Mega Drive

Fedilore Factcheck™:

- WelshPixie is a white person, living in the UK. Previously, she lived in South Africa.

- The person that WelshPixie is accusing of racism is not white.

- Making fun of WelshPixie is not racism. In fact, it is fun and easy to do.

@madewokherd having folks like you around actively using the instance helps me feel a lot better that we're doing the right thing

you know when you get a really aged bit of rubber or leather and you try to bend it and it just cracks and crumbles

that's how i feel trying to get anything done today

@daniel_westhof Paint Shop Pro 3 from 1995 supports PNG, GIF and JPG and runs on Windows 3.1

@lafp OHHHH yeah i loved the dynamic shadows on icons!!!

and when bit depth on computer screens increased and some windows like these adopted a marbled texture background!!

@daniel_westhof i love the glitchart potential with a scanner you can manually mess the calibration of, this is exquisite

I have a very old hand scanner lying around that has drivers for Windows 3.11. For it to work, it has to be calibrated by scanning a calibration sheet from the manual, which I don't have. (found nothing on the net either)
Scanning anything does satisfy the software, but the calibration is way off then. It looks fine while scanning, but when it applies the calibration, it messes everything up.

But I found a solution. :) 🧵 1/X

@jk this works sometimes with me, but not always! there needs to be a right quality of "novel" before my brain can pick it up eagerly. and then drop it a week later

@Stinkie GOD same!!! i put something off for months causing immense dread of it hanging over my head and then it's done in one sitting and i crash emotionally because it's over and now i have to find something else to do

@jk sometimes i look at my old code and it's absolutely wretched hundreds of characters long single lines of a convoluted "if" condition. and then i look at what it compiled to and it works. and logically i can affirm that it doesn't matter what the code looks like if it works yet i cannot recapture the hubris to make new things

maybe i'm just rusty (robot pun) but i feel it's increasingly hard to get started on a project anymore. i wish i could get my executive dysfunction and lack of focus patched out

i used to be able to write a game in like a week by doing everything "wrong". now i feel obligated to write out several data structures and plan complicated movement logic before i can even put a sprite on the screen. i hate this. i want my 14 year old circuits back

i am so sick of flat design. i need to put gradients and bevels on things more. i will be the change i want to see in the web

@hackbroetchen the point of the post you replied to is that, already having taking this social fall, i have nothing to lose by being annoying by continuing to point out how we're mistreated. so i'm not going to shut up about it
