The Reverse Turing Test is when you Beep-Boop at a computer convincingly enough that it accepts you into its pack.

@turbodragon the last part says "confusing"! :o i could read that! (took me a bit)

(some of the other characters i don't know yet)

learning Japanese

finished hiragana 1 and 2 before bed, 3 and 4 just now after waking up

that's all the hiragana skills on duolingo x.x that was a lot

i'm gonna cool off on it for now, come by later and do some practices

dunno if i should forge ahead on the intro lessons tonight? probably going too fast

decided to start Japanese on duolingo today, did the first skill (hiragana 1)

hopefully i can do well at it, it's a language I've been wanting to learn for a while

listening to punchy 80s octave-alternating bass for too long as it loops while i try to fine tune instruments is a sure fire way to get me sleepy on my chair

i ended up purposefully closing the file without saving (there wasn't much other than the bass there) out of spite for it making me fall asleep on my chair

@jk yea they're absolute garbo but i like the jupiter 8 sound

i used it in "the synthpop" for the arps and the lead, if you've listened to that

god the arturia v VSTs version 5 are extremely massive and slow to load

i thought the jupiter 8v2 was bad but jup 8v3 is ten times worse

i love it when vst makers include presets that mimic an instrument different from the instrument the vst is supposed to emulate

like arturia including an "808 bass" for their Prophet VST

imagine wasting your life savings on a Prophet and then making it do 808 sounds

@jk oh and fm8 is still working fine only it can't find any presets so i'll never use it ever because fuck making fm patches

@jk surprisingly, only for fm7 (granted i reinstalled the KORG pack and just now Arturia's jupiter 8v2)

a lot of them are freeware actually

wow my haphazardly-put together vst folder carried over across a different windows installation containing many broken vst installs apparently has 88 working plugins according to openmpt

nevermind i found a youtube video with a sketchy mega.nz link to a jupiter 8v2 download and for the first time since last april i can re-render "the synthpop" as it originally sounded

Show thread

the source file for "the synthpop" is, in a way, lost media now (unless i get someone with jupiter 8v2 to export the instruments in a way i can import them into jup 8v3)

Show thread

ugh the original instruments in "the synthpop" use jupiter 8v2

i downloaded jup 8v3 (the only torrent i could find for the arturia jupiter)

now i can't get back the original sounds because openmpt refuses to just give me the preset paramenters if it's not loading jupiter 8v2 in its place

is it absolutely necessary for all pirated vst installers to have loud anime-sampled techno
