measuring continuity across every key pads showed around 100-300 ohm across each, except for the spacebar which showed over 1k. so i took some conductive paint and put some over the pad and dried it with a hair drier, now the spacebar measures around 100 ohms and works perfectly!

oh my circuits all rows are working

only the spacebar doesn't seem to be cooperating well because the conductive pad below it might be worn out

this is the first time I've gotten this keyboard working properly since i bought this back in 2007

*wipes brow*
i think the negative of the cap (-12v supply only goes to the other side of the board through the via after all

now to see if the keyboard works fine

@roland@f.haeder.net you wanna buy me a new one? go ahead, amigas are costly imports here

went through the trouble of removing the cap... those two "pads" are already shorted by default?

i don't know if this is right or not

Show thread

cap replacement looks good but i think the via at the top is supposed to go to some other pin because now there's a short across the new cap? i think i just read the schematic wrong (having a picture of a non destroyed board without the caps would help IMMENSELY)

also the qtip i used to clean left a lot of cotton behind in this picture but i can't see anything with the naked eye. not sure how to get rid of it

Show thread

cap cleanup.. none of the original pads remain but shouldn't be hard to tap into the ones the old owner/technician uncovered, apparently with a jackhammer computerfairi.es/media/omA7Lz2

@er1n nah i could've kept it if i had a good argument but i didn't at the time

"yeah it won't turn on anyway let's save space"

i didnt think i'd want that amiga back now

@er1n i could've protested more but i was young and had no hindsight

@troubleMoney mhm

it's for the 2.5in hdd caddy but i don't use it so whatever

@er1n what makes me feel worse is i had one with a mobo in better condition but it absolutely wouldn't boot so my mom made me throw it away when we moved to save space

@KitRedgrave@glitch.social blue cap is not original, look at one on the left, original probably exploded

attempted repair.. looks like this might be the only trace broken, even if the rest isn't great

considering putting clear nail polish on the rest but worried it might make it worse

need to see if i have a replacement for that blue cap computerfairi.es/media/0mxuJOf computerfairi.es/media/PcoJEV9

DE15 is kind of a bitch to solder but there we go (sans audio yet because i forgot which pins i used for that in the bnc breakout) computerfairi.es/media/NJfLKm5
