flash, web dev

With all the advances in HTML, JS, and CSS in the last decade, it would be nice if someone* put together a desktop WYSIWYG client to build Flash-like games and animations. You could even adopt ActionScript and transpile into Javascript. That would at least satisfy people's desire to just jump in and start /making/ stuff without having to learn 3+ languages to do it.

* "Why don't you do it?" I have next to no experience making desktop apps OR creating with Flash. :P

subtoot, bad ----

oh yeah and then remember how you told me to stop following you because i was subtooting you

and then you went and subtooted me now calling me basically a nutjob

fuck off.

subtoot, bad, alcohol, death ----

not to count all the other times this happened when i wasn't physically there with you

like maybe i didn't want to be /your/ therapist, not the other way around

subtoot, bad, alcohol, death ----

hah i was the emotional burden? how about the time i thought you were going to off yourself drinking half a bottle of rum right after you told me alcohol could literally kill you

anyways i'm sad about flash and being late to things hbu

back when flash was still a thing i had friends making animations on it, recording the voices for it in their bedrooms and it just seemed /fun/. idk any good animation software that works like flash did these days nor anyone using them anymore. games? hope you like learning unity.

and i guess now unity is the closest thing with all the fun quirky little indie games coming out made on it but like. it doesn't feel the same

when i was 10 i took an extracurricular course at my school (i went to a rather posh school back then) for making flash games. not much came out of it from my end but the flash authoring interface fascinated me and i could do so much in it. hell even making vector drawings on it by pulling the lines where you wanted it to bend was way easier than the crummy guessing method of using bezier curves in any other vector image editor

i miss the old internet. when everybody was making stuff. now if you don't know at least two separate programming languages and a command line interface good luck making anything for web. flash made all of that easier. i miss flash games and animations.

to this we put forth, maybe it WASN'T flash at fault here.

we're not saying that the security vulnerabilities didn't exist, they did, they were bad, but it was never the only factor.

The only thing that we've seen the gradual loss of flash is, also, the gradual loss of fan animation, furry animation, ete, open as an option for so many young people to have as their outlet.

Trying to do the same thing today is so much harder than it was then, and it's only been getting worse.

The collective hate and killing of flash by the tech community was a terrible thing and has made the internet so much less fun.

5 years ago, everyone was arguing about how flash was the most insecure piece of garbage and caused all the security problems

fastforward to today and the same problems pretty much exist, but flash is fairly rare.

i was gonna jokingly post "pounded in the butt by my own clone by chuck tingle" but that is PROBABLY an actual title
