honestly I was expecting more people yelling at me for that epic of gilgamesh joke earlier

@Nine I've heard third- and fourth-hand accounts of people using ArcaOS which is the sorta continuation of OS/2

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArcaOS

@rainwarrior that's just crying out for a qr code on the other side with some of your work on

out of context, gross

@maple this summer, coming out of Duke Nukem's Dipshit Ass

@revolverocelot @noelle there may or may not be smoky backrooms where the mastodon illuminati gather to decide the fate of the fediverse

there isn't

it's actually everyone going "how the heck do I fix this weird thing?"

@wigglytuffitout without commentary: it's another activitypub compatible social network software like mastodon, it's developed by different people and is different under the hood but it still talks to mastodon and other activitypub compatible things, think of it like gmail and hotmail, they do things differently to each other but they're both do email and they can both talk to each other

with commentary: that has a comparatively higher proportion of dickhead users than mastodon

In 100-200 years time there are going to be groups of people doing historical reenactments of the 90's

child sexual abuse, fediadmin

@noelle makes it convenient to suspend them at least, anything with words like that in the domain are an insta-suspend

also anything referring to free speech in the domain, which is a shame, because "free speech" as a concept is a good thing but people just had to go and ruin it with their bullshit

a museum curator accidentally dropped 11 stone tablets written in Akkadian that were about some dude called Gilgamesh

"Ah", the curator said, "I believe this is what the youth of today call an Epic fail"

@gcupc@glitch.social quick! everyone start talking about gilgamesh!

Question

@Robby@forreal.masto.host @c0debabe well in that case for work you get the most ridiculous lingerie possible

same reason abba wore such outlandish outfits actually, same tax thing

@Nine ah yeah, those ones, they're cool

you might be able to fit some LED strip lights so they shine on the stars and then turn those on for 10 minutes before bed to charge the stars

@Nine SuperLuminova is also fantastic stuff for glow in the dark but really expensive

@Nine some fairly low power LEDs might do the job nicely, or maybe fibre optics if you put a false ceiling in

or there's the really fucking expensive option of GTLSs (gaseous tritium light sources) which would be awesome

@Nine @maple the one on the left looks like some sort of minty eclair, the one on the right looks like a dry beetroot cracker

@maple bring back single-purpose boards of switches and buttons and dials you can plug in to control software

I'm talking full-on steel battalion

@InspectorCaracal they've released a couple of pictures from the Ultima Thule flyby, they'll have more stuff later on though
