I may have been too quick to judge, a false caseback, some incredibly annoying spring bars, and a battery change later the alarm works properly and the backlight, while still awful, doesn't make the screen dim

I take it back, this is actually a functional watch

Show thread

@Frinkeldoodle holy crap, you were right, thanks for pointing that out

took me some doing getting the damn thing open but that fixed the worst of it

it's still crap, but it's perfectly serviceable crap now

Came across one of these in a shop on clearance and had to pick it up

It is by far the worst watch in my collection

The backlight is somehow worse than on the F91-W, when it's on the entire display dims so you still can't see the time

The alarm doesn't work, and not only doesn't work when it's meant to go off, it crashes the watch completely and resets the current time to midnight

It's terrible. I love it

med, grr

@bombshellbun oof, ouch, that sucks

I'll wander up the shops for some loratadine tomorrow so it's only short-term inconvenience

med, grr

grr, I keep getting bit by bugs of some description and the only antihistamine we've got in the house is chlorphenamine maleate, which I can't take

all itchy and annoyed

@scoots I've heard stories of some places where they don't actually have anything a bunch of entirely untrained westerners can usefully do so when one mission comes they say "oh, we really need a wall built over there" and when the next one turns up they say "we really need that unsafe wall demolished" in a constant cycle

pol

@maple really I think the only new part of that is "crying on twitter"

history's full of countries being run by petulant manchildren

the current popular incarnation of steampunk is like if cyberpunk were about being Jeff Bezos

Private Eyes, body mods

@Jo oh yeah

not recommended medically speaking

in which a wigglytuff is horrified first by politics but then by really really bad fashion design

@wigglytuffitout says a lot that while planning their special day they made it entirely about someone else

@Jo they've been very careful to phrase everything in ways that are technically correct

so really it's just overpriced crap being sold on kickstarter which is par for the course

Infosec silly

@Jo physical destruction is so much more fun though

The reason NASA keep all the moon rocks they took so secure is because they're incontrovertible evidence that the moon is in fact made of cheese
