pubg

one thing I really like about pubg is that there's a time limit on every match – if you are going to play a game, you know it's going to take a maximum of 30 minutes.

It's something that (most?) multiplayer survival action games lack: a defined end point.

And it's not just "play for 30 minutes and then the timer runs out and you lose", it's baked into the game: the zone you can play in slowly shrinks, and being outside that zone becomes deadly, which means the game ramps up over time.

@azushark I hope you can find someone to snuggle up to soon...

finally do I have the proper way of looking at the fediverse :icon_mrgreen:

also yes it's fully functional and I'm actually using it as my main interface right now

good design: the developers of N++ found that a lot of playtesters felt like they sucked at the game because they kept dying, so they made it so that the demos that play on the title screen are all of the character failing. you'll never see the ninja on the menu reach the exit. it's as if to say "don't worry, you're supposed to die a lot. you'll get there."

hilarious design: as you play the game, those demos get replaced with your own fuckups

software devs, organize!

software does not need to be awful. it does not need to watch or exploit you. our enthrallment to wages makes scabs of us. through our complicity, bosses launder blood through us.

it can be made to endure, to evolve and grow like great oaks. it can be made accountable to the people it affects. a higher standard awaits.

@Azure I'd rather ugly tech that's trying to look like something, than the boring nonsense we have today
