watch nerdery

@BatElite Fairly, they're very much on the "look at me I've got an expensive watch" side of the industry, basically they're who you go to to show off your conspicuous consumption when all your mates have caught up with iced out rolexes

They've made some neat mechanics and some interesting materials though

You, pleading through endless tears: "You can't just point at everything and call it some kind of a dongle!"

Me, pointing at a USB flash drive: "File dongle."

@trashyfins@chomp.life I have no idea which one of us you're subtooting with that

very hot watch take

The Swiss make the third best watches in the world

The Germans make the best (see: A. Lange und Soëhne), the Japanese make the second best (see: Credor), and the Swiss are third (see: Patek Phillipe)

@revolverocelot @noelle @maple Full watch nerd hat on, I really like swatch watches, they've got a great variety of designs, they're inexpensive, and are really well made

Also, the Sistem 51 movement that's in some of their range is really innovative, it's the first mechanical watch movement that can be assembled by machine which is an incredible advancement

...moth?

alcohol

I am currently drinking some Kraken Black Spiced Rum

This is incredibly on brand for me

@noelle @maple real talk though, some people do wear more than one watch so they can keep track of different timezones

Or at least that was Castro's excuse, Che Guevara wore a Rolex GMT Master though so it's not like there weren't watches about that could handle multiple time zones

@maple He's an Omega brand ambassador so I'm pretty sure he gets them free

Also, walked on the fucking moon, I'mma let him make any fashion decisions he likes

@maple still nothing on Buzz Aldrin though, dude wears 3 Omega Speedmasters at a time

compression misinformation

why else would they call one of the tools "bunzip" ??
