@rixx oh yeah, the F-91W perfectly ticks the "80's future" boxes for me, love the things

Can very much understand why you don't though

@bea I haven't tried it with the MQ24 but certainly with the F91-W you can replace the strap with just about any strap that's 18mm wide

You do end up with the strap costing more than the watch though

@rixx Honestly not entirely sure how it actually works

The MQ24- bit refers to the case and movement in it, then the numbers and letters after are different colourways and dials

Another one you might look at is the F91-W, that's a digital watch that has time, calendar, stopwatch, and alarm

@bea they're not actually that bad

I mean, they feel cheap 'cause they really, really are but they're perfectly serviceable

@bea I've not actually seen the battery life of the MQ24 anywhere, but this is a watch that's somehow cheaper than a new watch battery so it doesn't matter too much

I keep tooting pictures and articles about really expensive watches, let's take this back to basics

This is the Casio MQ24-7BLL

It costs less than even the venerable F91-W, it's made of plastic and shows the hour, minute, and second only

Despite that, it's fucking brilliant

For less than the price of a cup of coffee you get a highly legible, accurate enough, reliable watch

And if you want celebrity endorsements, the fucking Pope wears one

@masklayer since when did he do anything that could be considered "film-making"?

Oh, I see, your name is maple.

I was trying to explain the concept of a "smartwatch" to someone

"...and that's what it does"
"but why?"
"no idea"

If anyone does know why smartwatches are a thing, answers on a postcard please

uspol, oh my god it's 1972 all over again

@noelle honestly I thought we were rehashing the 80's, guess I was a decade out

@squirrel I'm not sure if it was perfect, but it was what we had and it was damn good

@noelle did they try to make it as utterly boring a flag as possible?
