@mavica slightly complicated by the lack of a proper mouth but *affectionately headbutts the robot*
@InspectorCaracal is that the new trendy acronym for BODMAS?

@InspectorCaracal honestly not much, it's an obscure topic even for me
there's this website I found which has a lot of info about wadokei (the mechanical clocks that were developed that use this system) https://wadokei.org/
the seiko museum also has a couple of articles https://museum.seiko.co.jp/en/knowledge/relation_07/ https://museum.seiko.co.jp/en/knowledge/relation_16/
@noelle @artsyhonker @amphetamine@slime.global THAT'S WHO IT WAS
I remembered that the traditional japanese system used something like this 'cause I've seen some neat clocks that do it but I knew there was another example and couldn't remember who it was
@artsyhonker that sounds a lot like the traditional japanese time system, 6 daytime units from sunrise to sunset, 6 nighttime units from sunset to sunrise, length of the units changing to match how much/little sun there is
in the Edo period clockmakers had a lot of fun making clocks that worked all that out
@Jo I know it would have been solved in five seconds flat if someone came over the tannoy and said "those blokes with guns support millwall"
@kirby yes, yes you are
@LaserScheme wooOOOoooOOOoo
@mavica a look around also lead me to finding out that this is a product that exists http://www.yummymeds.com
