Broke: The internet is just 6 websites now
Woke: So we should go back to each make our own website
Broke (again): But making a website became way harder
Bespoke: Making website is still easy, standars of quality has changed. We must embrace shitty html pages

if you want to add this to your own nginx setup:

map $http_user_agent $brnotice {
default '</head>';
~*Chrome '<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maple.pet/notice.css"></head><div class="impnotice">You are using an unsupported browser. Please visit <a href="https://getfirefox.com">this website</a> to upgrade your browser.</div>';
}

server {
[...]
sub_filter '</head>' $brnotice;
sub_filter_once on;
}```

added an nginx useragent directive to make my website render correctly on google chrome

@zens do like me and drink alcohol while on hrt that already destroys your livers, i'm very smart

@loshmi @bri_seven fediverse is already so much bigger than mastodon and at this point my disdain for @Gargron rivals my disdain for zuckerberg and that reflects in how much people think the fediverse is just mastodon

@loshmi @bri_seven @Gargron *key instances have arbitrary emoji reactions on posts and i think the only other instances that can receive/display those are akkoma and sadly pleroma

@loshmi @bri_seven @Gargron glitchsoc is right there and it has oekaki and markdown which i don't think mastodon ever pulled back upstream

if i agree with it it's free speech but if i don't it's politics and should be kept out of this discord server

@touloutoumou @alienmelon when posts are sent between instances each instance that receives them stores a copy of the content, which is how the decentralization works

by seeing the posts from a remote instance, you're not looking at a live view from the source instance, just whatever was sent there, so an instance going offline means the posts survive elsewhere

@bustletonauto my uncle had one of these, the two and a half interdimensional cab meant it was bigger on the inside so the bed was pretty much vestigial as far as hauling things went

@dirk @admin @arielmt @troubleMoney fyi i have not been part of computer fairies staff since 2021 and cannot speak for it

but personally knowing Ariel and Sam i can't imagine they're favourable towards Meta

If I'm gonna be online I want funner tools. not like a new code or whatever, but like a little inventory I can collect things in and use them later. someone can leave a little compass on their front page and I follow it, and it leads me to an alcove. and I pull out my microscope to look at the web protozoa left to mutate for eons since the early web. and I go home to find someone sleeping on my page, charging their dht phone. it's no problem, I put up a do not disturb sign so no one wakes them
