@Nine I vaguely recall that a decent standard for "how long petrol lasts before it doesn't work how you'd want it to" is about 6 months

can't remember if that's in a vented container or not, but there's also the fact that if it's had oxygen get at it (while, say, decanting it into a to-be-sealed container) some of the stuff will oxidise and create lumpy bits
