Doctor Who [Season 1 Recommendations]
@lizardsquid Huh. I actually didn't like The Edge of Destruction much. It established a lot of important things going forward, including bringing some much-needed character development... but the actual episodes were kind of a slog, with their weird characterization, confusing plotting, and forced-feeling conflict between the protagonists.
@softgoat I desperately need to know what the latter is.
@Fenris *Offers ten pats!*
@squirrel Agreed. So very agreed.
@witchylyn I will... do something. Not sure what. Maybe squeak? Still, support.
@troubleMoney Oh, fuck, I remember when Dad was super-intensely pushing me toward hadoop -- I think he needed it for a project or something and was trying to get me to test it, but I can't remember. (He... also didn't seem to fully understand what it was and how it worked, as he wanted me to set it up on a single non-server machine which... isn't actually how it works... then seemed annoyed at me for finally concluding this after investigation into what the heck I was doing and how it worked.)
If you're considering putting together a hadoop cluster to do stuff to things, maybe make sure it's not 235 times faster to just throw it through awk

@Nine Wait, how is that even possible?
I... am considering actual backstories for my 'sona, but I can't... think of any that really properly satisfy me. ALso considering alt-'sonas, but I want an element of that "mouse by identity, rather than biology" thing I get with this weird little shiftercutie, because my trans and kin feels make me appreciate that touch.
@Nine Oh, man, remember when you could just use custom models and skins in multiplayer PC games by downloading them, instead of having to buy from a far more limited set? And a cute fox gal is great, but I'm wondering about mousie FPS/game skins/models.
Double whoops on me, I forgot to add context with a non-LA Times story link: https://slate.com/technology/2018/05/the-la-times-isnt-letting-europeans-read-its-site-thanks-to-the-eus-new-internet-rules.html
Happy GDPR day, Europe! I read that it won't actually fix anything, but like shining a light under the kitchen cabinets & sending the roaches scurrying for cover, it'll reveal just how bad data mishandling has gotten.

@pettancow If any of them involve mousies, or princesses, or lesbians, or trans girls, or some combination of the above, go for that one.
Mouse furre/kemonomimi, mouse(girl)-kin, writer when she can get past her anxiety and executive dysfunction, transhumanist, autistic trans girl, would-be cutie squeak.
