ComputerFairi.es Update

Following the recent unpleasantness mavica has permanently quit the fediverse and has deleted all of its accounts

This instance is now being run by @troubleMoney

The Colston Hall in Bristol has been officially renamed the Bristol Beacon

bit boring but it's not named after a slave trading prick any more so it's an improvement

@evie surely "beard" should be one of those zwj thingies

add it to anything

you want a car with a beard? you got it

I usually avoid subtooting subtoots but, well, here we go

there's more going on than ends up on masto, there's more than one side of the story as there always is when more than one person is involved

I'm not going to go into it because 1) I don't know everything, 2) it's not my place, and 3) it wouldn't help much if I did

what I will say is that this is shit for everyone involved and nobody has the full picture

@vantablack turn up in a dinosaur onesie

"I was told to dress up, I'm here as a t-rex"

guide to a block moving puzzle game by a publisher of tech-related books

@quirk another problem is if you have two clocks and one is inaccurate, you don't know which is wrong so you have to check against yet another clock

@wigglytuffitout @InspectorCaracal @Kat@snouts.online @revolverocelot different flavours as well

classic salt, pickle, soy sauce, salt + vinegar for the UK market, etc

NCIS, Tech nonsense

@Jo assuming they've got the laptop this actually makes sense

if a computer's turned off everything can be fully encrypted and if it's done properly you're not getting anything

if the computer's running when you get to it at least some of it has to be unencrypted and in RAM, hopefully including the bits you want

also a lot of disk encryption implementations only ask for a password on boot, so if you keep it running you don't have to deal with that

Fashy FOSSbros

@Jo oh, he's finally gone all out now has he?

caught signs he was going that way a while ago
